In this feature on Yahoo, I was invited to speak on a topic close to my heart—stress. More specifically, how your body can tell good stress from bad stress, even when your brain might not be as quick to notice.
As I shared in the article, stress is not the enemy—it’s a signal. It becomes problematic not because it shows up, but when we don’t allow space for recovery. Chronic stress, if left unchecked, doesn’t just affect the mind. It impacts every organ system in the body—from your gut to your immune system.
I explained how the real challenge isn’t always the stressor, but “the lack of recovery.” That’s the piece we so often miss. When you’re stuck in survival mode—running on autopilot, unable to regulate your emotions, constantly fatigued, or physically unwell—it’s time to take your stress seriously.
Stress isn’t just in your head; it’s in your hormones, your breath, your sleep, your digestion. And when you start to understand the science, you can begin to change the story.
Also featured in the piece was emerging research from Baylor College of Medicine challenging long-standing fears around red meat and inflammation—highlighting the need for more up-to-date, evidence-based dietary guidance.
This dual-feature article was a powerful reminder that both stress and nutrition are deeply misunderstood—and that with better science comes better choices for your body, brain and life.
